Doris Clarke

With Doris Clarke’s love of gardening, books, and the outdoors, moving to Springdale at Lucy Corr Village was an ideal choice. After leaving a two-story home she had lived in for 27 years and moving to a spacious cottage residence at Springdale, she immediately got involved in the community’s garden club and became an active member of the thriving book club.

“There are so many things to do here. Each person can decide how busy they want to be each day – and I like that,” she says. Doris also likes having the choice of cooking in her home or going to the community dining room or bistro for an “attractively served and prepared meal.”

To maintain her health and verve, Doris regularly attends Springdale’s exercise classes and uses the walking trails throughout the campus. “I always feel safe and secure in the community when I’m walking on the trails or going out,” she adds. “I never have to worry and that’s so reassuring.”

In addition to continuing her independent lifestyle, Doris was drawn to Springdale because of the convenient location to her church and proximity to her daughter who lives in Richmond. She also has two other children who live farther away and appreciates having the extra bedroom and second bath in her home when they visit.

“Above all, what I enjoy most about Springdale is the people. The staff is so friendly and the residents here treat each other like family. This is such a close-knit community,” she affirms. “I’m quite happy here.”
