What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?
A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), by law, must offer at least three distinct levels of care: skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living. Through a coordinated system of health and wellness services – supported by low-maintenance residences, social activities, dining venues, transportation services, and a variety of personal services – CCRCs provide a continuum of care to meet the changing needs of adults as they age.
There are three different types of continuing care retirement communities.
Type A (Lifecare) communities have residents prepay for all levels of health care services when they enter the community, whether or not those services are ever needed or used. Residents have an unlimited number of health care days at the same monthly fee as they would have paid in residential living. These upfront payments are usually in the form of higher entrance fees and monthly fees.
Type B (Modified) communities are similar to Type A communities but restrict the number of health care days received on an annual basis at the same monthly fee. If residents use more than their allotment of days in a given year, they pay a higher monthly fee.
Type C (Fee-for-Service) communities only charge residents for health care services if and when they need them. This options works particularly well for those who have long term care insurance. Springdale at Lucy Corr Village is a Type C or fee-for-service community.
May I furnish and decorate my apartment or cottage as I wish?

For cottages, major options include a sunroom and private garden design.
