Rehabilitation Services and Special Care

 

The Rehabilitation Center at Lucy Corr Village provides a full range of geriatric rehabilitation services to help residents achieve and maintain their highest practical levels of function. These include:

 

Physical Therapy: Comprehensive functional mobility training for maximum independence including gait, transfer, wheelchair and prosthetic training; strength and balance training; wound care; fall prevention; modalities including electrical stimulation and therapeutic ultrasound.

 

Occupational Therapy: Training in activities of daily living; specialized seating, positioning and splinting; restraint and pressure reduction; fine-motor-skills training; cognitive re-training.

 

Speech Therapy: Receptive and expressive communication training; instruction for the hearing impaired; swallowing skills training including diet assistance and specialized feeding techniques; electro larynx and augmentative communication training; cognitive re-training.

 

Restorative/Maintenance Therapy: Specialized programs provided by trained restorative aides to restore and maintain the residents' functional level; these programs are developed and monitored by the Nursingor Rehabilitation Departments.

 

 

 

Memory Support

 

At The Clover Hill Memory Center, residents receive 24-hour care and memory support from specially-trained RNs, LPNs and certified nursing assistants in a secure center designed for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

 

Our skilled professionals develop individualized care plans with family involvement, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Individual activities are based on each resident's level of cognitive, physical, and behavioral skill.

 

The Greater Richmond Alzheimer's Association provides monthly support group meetings each third Thursday of the month throughout the year.

 

 

Our team of licensed professionals works closely with each resident, the resident's family or caregiver, and other health service areas at Lucy Corr Village to provide an interdisciplinary approach for accomplishing resident goals. We also have a Transitional Living Unit that provides short-term care for residents who benefit from skilled rehabilitation or post-acute convalescent services.
